Mirza upsets Peer at Acura Classic
[Wed Aug , 00:47:36]Sania Mirza upsets her doubles partner and good friend Sahar Peer of Israel in the first round of Acura Classic. It was three set victory 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 over Peer for Sania.
"I really didn't want to spend so much time on the court," said Mirza.
Mirza played at the net more in the third set. She played at net more often than usual, trying to shorten rallies. Mirza took a 4-1 lead in the third set.
"We all know that (Peer) is one of the best on the Tour at running down shots. If I keep hitting and ripping from behind the baseline, she's going to keep tracking down balls," said Sania.
Mirza broke Peer's serve nine times in the whole match.
After the match Mirza said, "I'm happy because it was a very tough first-round match,"
"But we both are not happy because we are friends, and it's hard to play a friend," added Mirza.
