Sania reaches pre-quarters of Acura Classic

Sania Mirza continues her winning race at $1.3-million Acura Classic. Sania reached the pre-quarter final of Acura Classic. To enter into third round, Sania dismissed Eleni Daniilidou of Greece in two sets 7-6(1), 6-3 in the second round. Acura Classic is the WTA Tour Tier 1 hard court event.

For the next round, Sania will face World No. 14 and eighth seed, Dinara Safina of Russia. Safina is younger sister of Russian top player Marat Safin. If Sania wins against Dinara Safina, then she will next face the former Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova. Sania once played against Sharapova in the fourth round of US Open in 2005.

On the other hand, Sania Mirza also entered the second round of doubles along with Israel partner Sahar Peer. To enter the second round, Mirza-Peer defeated Angelika Bachmann of Germany and Czech Republic's Hana Smorova in two sets 6-4, 6-0.
