Sania defeated Martina Hingis at Carson
[Wed Aug , 02:17:56]No body will doubt that Indian tennis star Sania Mirza is in her good form. Recently Sania defeated World No. 7 Martina Hingis, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, in the second-round match of East West Bank Classic at Carson. Before that Sania defeated five top 25 players in last two weeks.
After the match, Hingis said, "You can't let a player like her run away in the first set like that."
Hingis is still suffering from hip and back injuries. Hingis said that she was mentally and physically tired in the third set while Mirza got fresher.
Sania said her key play was when she stretched three games early in the final set, where she turned a 2-3 deficit into a 5-3 lead.
After the match Sania said, "You're playing Martina Hingis. You can't expect to roll through 6-0 in the third set."
For doubles, Sania is teamed up with a new partner Bethanie Mattek of USA. Sania and Mattek will take on to Janette Husarova of Slovakia and Michaella Krajicek of the Netherlands.
