Sania advanced to 2nd round of US Open

Sania Mirza entered safely to the second round of US Open. To enter the second round, Sania defeated Estonian Kaia Kanepi in three sets 6-2, 6-7 (5/7), 6-1.

Seeded 26th at US Open, Sania started well with first set 6-2. While the Estonian opponent fought back in the second set. Sania still stretched the set to tiebreak. But the opponent hit the decider and clinched second set. In the third set Sania played superbly, giving only a single game point to her opponent 6-1.

Sania clinched her careers highest world ranking (27th) this week. World No. 27, Sania Mirza will next take on to the 60th ranked American Laura Granville in the second round.
