Injury sent back Sania home
[Mon Oct 22, 2007]Sania Mirza came back to home Hyderabad, because injury doesn't allow her to play. Sania's stomach muscle gets pulled during the quarterfinal match against Flavia Pennetta in Japan two weeks ago. Sania had already struggled with two serious injuries (knee and wrist) in past.
Mirza said, "I am mentally tired and my body is crying out for a break. I'm looking forward to a rest and then a great season next year,"
"It has been a long and hard year for me, where I had to make repeated comebacks from two serious injuries (knee and wrist) and a surgery," she later added.
Sania's father, Imran Mirza said, "With the specific objective of finishing in the top 25 of the world rankings and thereby getting a direct seeding in next year’s Australian Open, Sania played on despite considerable discomfort in the Moscow and the Zurich Opens. But the injury seemed to be getting worse without the much-needed rest."
As this is the time of season ending, Sania was scheduled to play at Austria and Canada in the coming weeks. But injury pulled her out of these events. But Sania will play at Hopman Cup in Perth along with Rohan Bopanna, which is starting from December 30.
