Sania went down to Venus Williams at Australian Open
[Mon Jan 21, 2008]Sania Mirza lost match to Venus Williams in the third round of Australian Open. Mirza went down to Venus in two straight sets 6-7 (0-7), 4-6. But, she gave tough fight to the eighth seeded American. For the first set, Mirza stretched the game to tie breaker, but was unable to win a single game in tiebreaker. She had big chance in the first set to win it, but lot of unforced errors and bad service cost her to lose the set.
However in the second set Mirza kept fighting to Venus to end the set as 4-6. Mirza did 31 unforced errors, while Venus committed 19 throughout the match. However their winners ratio was- Sania (18):Venus(22). Sania herself was very upset about her bad service. After the match, Sania said, "I think I'm one of the worst servers in the game." However Sania's net plays were better than Venus.
Although, she has been out from singles, she has more to play at Australian Open with mixed and women's doubles.
