Sania back on court with Qatar Open, Doha
[Sun Feb 17, 2008]

After one more controversy regarding her not to play in India decision, Sania returns back on court with the $ 2.5 million Qatar Total Open, which is starting from Monday. Her participation in the event was doubtful because of the injury she received during Australian Open. But the 21-year-old Indian star is fit now and ready to hit the ball.

Sania along with her mother Naseema Mirza, landed in Doha on Friday. For the first round, Sania will take on to the Belarusian player Olga Govortsova, who is currently ranked 48th on WTA circuit. If Sania crosses the first hurdle, she might have to face a tough task at second round against world No.2 Ana Ivanovic of Serbia. The event also includes top players like Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Nadia Petrova, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Anna Chakvetadze, Daniela Hantuchova and Marion Bartoli.
