Sania To Train Under Agassi's Trainer
[Wed Feb 25, 2009]

Sania Mirza will move to Las Vegas to train in the Gil Reyes' training centre. Although the city is known for its entertainment and casino resorts, Sania has less to do with it. She will move to the Gil Reyes' training centre for energy-sapping workout for the period of a week starting from March 2.

Let you know that Reyes was trainer to the great American player Andre Agassi. He was responsible for maintaining Aagasi in top 10. Aagasi is the only man who won five Grand Slams after the age of 29 and went on to join the Aussie legend Rod Laver. More than a trainer, Reyes was a very good friend to Aagasi as Aagasi named his first son Jaden Gil, after Reyes.

During the training sessions, Sven Groeneveld will join to Sania as a coach and she will work on both on court and off court.

Talking about the training, Sania said, "It's going to be a new experience and I'm looking forward to it."

"I've heard so much about it from Ana (Ivanovic) and (Fernando) Verdasco, who had trained there before he made the semi-finals of the Australian Open. This is going to be a short stint because I'll be playing tournaments in the following week. If it works well for me I want to go over for a longer stint in the near future," added Sania.

However her Imran Mirza said that the schedule had not fixed till, but would finalize in next couple of days.

Sania who started her season at the place of 120 has climbed to 75th position on current WTA rankings released on Monday. After the training, she is expected to play at Indian Wells and Miami.
