Sania Impressed Gil Reyes With Her Athleticism
[Thu Mar 12, 2009]

Last week Sania was in Las Vegas training at Gil Reyes' training centre and she managed to impress the great fitness trainer Gil Reyes with her athletic skills. Reyes has been a trainer to many top players like Andre Agassi, Fernando Verdasco and Ana Ivanovic. Reyes lauded for Sania's athleticism after working with her for a week. Her coach Sven Groeneveld also accompanied her for the training session.

Sania was not able to participate in Fed Cup after Australian Open due to an abdominal injury and hence went to Gil Reyes' training centre for fitness.

In the praise of Sania, Reyes said, "I have enjoyed the training sessions with Sania. I am truly impressed with her athleticism. She has natural athletic ability and has been well coached."

He later added, "Professional tennis has become quite physical and will continue to do so. Adding a strength and power to a natural athlete like Sania could certainly improve her tennis game, specially speed, movement and court coverage."

The Spanish trainer explained that the kind of injury Sania is suffering from, it is need to be given sufficient time to recover.

"It is important to respect Sania's recent wrist injury and not force the issue. However, she has been training her lower body with great focus and intensity. I can understand the enthusiasm about Sania's future and I share the enthusiasm," said Reyes.

He also said that he will be happy to work with Sania again.

"I hope that her schedule will include many training days at my training center in Las Vegas because I believe that by adding greater physical capabilities to her abundant tennis talent, Sania will enjoy a very successful career as a professional athlete," adds Reyes.

During the training session Sania also met her childhood idol, the legendary German tennis player Steffi Graf.
