Sania To Meet Mariya Koryttseva At Indian Wells Opening Round
[Thu Mar 12, 2009]Indian tennis star Sania Mira will start her Indian Wells campaign against Mariya Koryttseva of Ukraine. Sania currently is ranked at 87th position on WTA charts, while Koryttseva is ranked at 96th position. Sania has been given a wildcard entry to the tournament.
If Sania crosses her first hurdle, she will next take on to 12th seed Flavia Pennetta, who got a bye in the first round.
For doubles, she is paired up with Chia-Jung Chuang of Taiwan. This Indo-Taiwan pair will face the Israel-Argentian pair Shahar Peer and Gisela Dulko in the first round. Sania Mirza and Sahar Peer were previously played together at many events. This time they will play against each other.
Sania made her comeback earlier this year after a career threatening wrist injury. She had shown a good form by winning Australian Open mixed doubles title with Mahesh Bhupati and reaching the final of Pattaya Open last month. Hope she will carry forward her winning form here as well.
