Sania Made Early Exit From Sony Ericsson Open, Miami
[Sat Mar 28, 2009]Sania Mirza ousted from the USD 4,500,000 Sony Ericsson Open, Miami by losing to Mathilde Johansson of France in the first round of the event. But she gave good fight to her world no. 65 opponent.
Sania who made a wild card entry to the event won the first set 6-1 very easily but loose to win another one. For next two sets she fought very well, stretching the sets to tie breaker 6-7 (2) 6-7 (8). But eventually the match went into the side of the Johansson.
Also the other Indian present at the event, the 15-year-old wild card entrant Yuki Bhambri lose 4-6 3-6 to Diego Junqueira of Argentina by giving a tough fight.
Sania will next play in the doubles event along with Chinese Taipei partner Chia-Jung Chuang. The pair will take on to Czech pair Barbora Strycova Zahlavova and Iveta Benesova for the opening round.
