Sania static on singles chart, goes down on doubles
[Tue Oct 27, 2009]According to the new WTA ranking issued on Monday, Indian tennis player Sania Mirza is static on singles chart at 58th position, while goes down two places in doubles ranking to 38th position. Last week at Japan Open, Sania made a semi final appearance in singles while a quarter final appearances to doubles along with American partner Vania King.
However the other Indians in the circuit are also making an upward journey on the ranking charts. The new tennis star in good form Somdev Devvarman gets his career best ranking of 121. Recently he had achieved career best ranking to 124th position. But this week he gained three more rungs to place at 121st position. Teen tennis player Yuki Bhambri goes up three places to 344th position. Among the veteran tennis players, Mahesh Bhupati loses one place to 7th place, while Leander Paes is static to 8th position in men's doubles ranking.
Prakash Amritraj also improved his ranking to 232 positions moving up 17 places. His singles quarterfinals reach at the Calabasas Challenger event made his earn the points.
