Sania's Campaign Gets Over at Australian Open
[Fri Jan 29, 2010]Indian tennis ace Sania Mirza's run at the ongoing Australian Open came to end as she along with Spanish partner Virginia Ruano Pascual went down to Alisa Kleybanova of Russia and Francesca Schiavone of Italy in the third round of women's doubles at the Melbourne Park.
Earlier, Sania ousted from singles from the first round and mixed doubles as her partner Mahesh Bhupathi withdrew from the tournament due to injury.
Mirza-Pascual was seeded 10th at the event and went down to the 7th seeded Russian-Italian pair in two straight sets 4-6, 3-6.
Meanwhile, the only Indian challenge left at the Grand Slam is the veteran doubles player Leander Paes, who has reached to the finals of mixed doubles along with Zimbabwean partner Cara Black.
Also, Rishika Sunkara has advanced to second round of girl's singles event defeating Miyu Kato of Japan 6-4, 6-2 in first round.
