Sania Weds Shoaib on 12th April
[Tue Apr 13, 2010]The high profile Sania-Shoaib marriage was scheduled for the 15th of April. However, due to the controversy of Malik having been already married to another Indian woman (Ayesha Siddiqui) from the same city of Hyderabad and also because of pressure from leaders of the Muslim community in the city, they were forced to pre-pone it to the 12th of April.
Sania Mirza-Shoaib Malik married in a traditional Nikaah ceremony at around 1 p.m. in a hotel in Hyderabad on April 12. The ceremony was attended by family members and close relatives. Before the wedding could take place, Malik divorced Ayesha Siddiqui reluctantly. Malik was not ready to accept his first marriage, as he was forced by his family to marry Ayesha in the first place. Moreover, his first Nikaah had taken place on the telephone and he claimed that he had never seen the real Ayesha; instead he was cheated by the Siddiqui family as they showed him photographs of another attractive woman. However, Malik agreed to divorce Ms Siddiqui because of pressure from the Muslim community and the Indian Police, who take away his passport when Siddiqui family filled a complaint against him.
Meanwhile, when everyone was doubtful about the two sports star's tying the knot; it took place merrily on April 12th. Both of them seemed very happy at the occasion.
The marriage is one of a kind, as for the first time two sports person from India and Pakistan have been married. It is special because the whole world knows about the rivalry of the two nations. India and Pakistan have fought three wars since their independence in 1947. Meanwhile the celebration will last for three days - a Mehendi on 13th, Sangeet on 14th, followed by a reception on the15th. After this, the couple will go to Lahore, Pakistan and then move to Dubai.
