Sania-Monica defeats Wimbledon doubles champions

The unseeded Indo-Romanian pair of Sania Mirza and Monica Niculescu defeated doubles champions of Wimbledon Yaroslava Shvedova and Vania King to enter the quarter finals of Cincinnati Open. King-Shvedova were seeded 5th at the event, went down to Mirza and Monica 3-6, 6-1, 6-10 in the second round. To enter the second round the duo had beaten Melanie Oudin and Jamie Hampton 6-4, 7-6.

Other shocking results at the event include 2nd seed Caroline Wozniacki's 3rd round exit and 6th seed Vera Zvonareva's easy defeat 4-6, 3-6 to Flavia Pennetta. However, consistent players Maria Sharapova and Kim Clijsters made it to the third round successfully.
